Damn Yankees at the NY City Center

I always like to seek out different things to do so I regularly scan the Arts & Leisure section of the Sunday New York Times.  There is so much to do, but entertainment is very expensive.  The bargain matinee at the local multiplex is $8.25/person times 3.  About a month ago I noticed that Damn Yankees had a three week run at City Center.  The cost was about $30/ticket which is much less expensive than Jersey Boys.  This show was part of City Center's Summer Stars Encores series.  The show originally played on Broadway in 1955 and ran for about 1000 performances.  From 1949-53 the Yankees won the American League pennant for 5 straight years.  The main character sells his sould to the devil and becomes a young player to help the Washington Senators defeat the Yankees.  This version at City Center starred Sean Hayes and Jane Krakowski.

The show ended at 4:30 and we got home at 5:30.  I told Lee to tuen on ESPN news to check the Yankee score since we assumed the game would be over since it started at 1 PM.  Since it was in the 12th inning, we turned back to the YES network and saw the damn Yankees (pun intended) win on a hit batsmen with the bases loaded.

We didn't rush home, but we got home in time for the beginning of Saturday Night Oldies.
