Our first trip to Citifield of the 2011 turned out to be a disappointment as the Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 7 to 3 in 11 innings. Everything was fine at the end of 7 innings as Chris Young pitched a beauty of a game and left as the Mets were leading 3-1. Again like last season the Mets failure to add on runs to a lead hurt them. D. J. Carrasco allowed the Nats to tie the game. Blaine Boyer failed the Mets in the 11th inning as he gave up a run scoring single to Ivan Rodriguez which gave the Nats the lead. A three run homer by Laynce Nix sealed the victory for the visitors. No clutch hitting and poor relief piching did the Mets in today.
