Bruce's Journal

Bruce Slutsky was born in New York City in 1949. I retired six years ago after working as a Science/Engineering Librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark for 25 years. I was married to Karen until she passed away in February 2021. I have a son Lee who is now 35 years old. I am very much interested in the popular music of the 1960s, especially Bob Dylan and the Beatles. I am interested in rock and roll radio. I am an enthusiastic fan of the New York Mets.

Some More Comments about Radio Station Surveys

I have commented about radio surveys before in Bruce's Journal. WCBS-FM is doing the listener voted top 500 again for this Labor Day weekend There has been some discussion on the Oldies board and Radio-Info message board about the validity of these countdowns. In the Still of the Night by the 5 Satins was voted #1 on the WCBS-FM for many years but does not even appear on this list. I know they are looking for younger listeners who were not yet born during the Doo Wop era, but they should play songs that accurately reflect the choices of their listeners. If you see message board threads listed below, the prevailing opinion is that this survey was contrived.
