MLB is Testing Rules in Arizona Fall League to Speed Up Baseball Games

About a year ago I reported in this journal on long baseball games.  The man in the picture above seems to have nodded off during a long game.  I read today on the ESPN site that there were going to be rules tested in the Arizona Fall League to try to speed up games.  In 1981 the average game was 2 hr 33 minutes while it is now slightly over 3 hours.  The ESPN site details all of the rules, so it is not necessary to repeat them here.   I like the rule limiting teams to three trips to the mound by managers, coaches and catchers during a game, except for pitching changes.

I suppose the MLB will evaluate what happens in the Arizona Fall League this season before implementing permanent changes.  This likely would not happen until 2016 at the earliest.
