Panhandlers Should Show Some Gratitude
For at least a few years there is a thin woman in downtown Flushing who shouts out "One Dollar, One Dollar." I have probably passed her at least 100 times. As a general rule, I don't give money to panhandlers, but this afternoon I felt kind hearted and gave her a dollar bill. She didn't even say thank you. Can't these people show a little gratitude? Maybe the only words in English that she knows is one dollar.
Panhandlers often make up stories and use the money they get to buy drugs, but this woman obviously needed the money for food. After this little experience, I will follow the advice on the photo above and donate to reputable charities that help out the hungry and homeless.
