Bruce's Journal

Bruce Slutsky was born in New York City in 1949. I retired six years ago after working as a Science/Engineering Librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark for 25 years. I was married to Karen until she passed away in February 2021. I have a son Lee who is now 35 years old. I am very much interested in the popular music of the 1960s, especially Bob Dylan and the Beatles. I am interested in rock and roll radio. I am an enthusiastic fan of the New York Mets.

We Saw A Bronx Tale for Lee's Birthday

Every year we take Lee to see a Broadway show for his birthday (March 28), so this year he picked A Bronx Tale. It is a streetwise musical that takes place on the stoops in the Bronx in the 1960s where a young man is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he'd love to be. It was a movie released in 1993 that starred Robert De Niro. That film was adapted from Chazz Palminteri's 1989 play of the same name. The musical opened at the Papermill Playhouse in February 2016 and the moved to Broadway.
